Welcome to Basement Brothers Jiu-Jitsu, we are a BJJ academy in Leland for anyone looking to get started! As a family-owned and family-friendly academy, we strive to provide a fun, laid-back experience for our students. Myself, Kyle Bennett and my brother Justin Bennett provide an approachable and relatable mindset at our gym. You can practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and become a better grappler while improving your health, problem-solving skills, ability to handle pressure, and emotional control. The mental benefits of Jiu-Jitsu are often even greater than the physical benefits! Our training allows students to reach their own personal goals without feeling overwhelmed. We look forward to seeing you all on the mats!

Our School
BJJ is our passion at Basement Brothers Jiu-Jitsu. It is truly our favorite thing to do. As instructors we don’t need to be motivated to teach our students. Every day we bring a fun, high energy to the mats to inspire students. Our mission is to be a place where no one is intimidated to train. We welcome students with open arms and embrace their journey and individuality. If they find something that works but isn’t our particular style, we encourage them to continue using that technique or movement. We are open-minded to anything you find works best for you. We are here to help you every night and make Jiu-Jitsu a transformative experience. With some brotherly love and expertise, we’ve made our academy a home for anyone and everyone!
Our History
When we moved to Leland from Virginia in 2023, we started a small BJJ club out of our garage. Then in 2025, we moved to our gym and Basement Brothers Jiu-Jitsu became official.
Before moving to Leland, Our BJJ journey began in 2012 when a family-friend who saw our interest in UFC and began showing us Jiu-Jitsu in our basement (hence the name). Eventually we left the basement and met Leo Dalla, who oversaw our training all the way through earning our black belts in 2021. Now, as black belt instructors, we use our experience to teach Jiu-Jitsu in an easy way for students to understand. We strive to continue to make Jiu-Jitsu something for everyone in Leland for as long as possible.

Jiu-Jitsu can be for anybody who wants to train. You don’t need to be of a certain age, weight, gender, or skill level. Your journey can dive into fitness, self-defense, competition, or just as a hobby. We’re here to help you each step of the way!
Adult Jiu-Jitsu
(ages 14+)
Our adult Jiu-Jitsu classes are led with compassion and open-mindedness. Each student is encouraged to train at their own pace and intensity. We keep our students as safe as possible in this contact sport while guiding them through their own personal journeys. This is a Leland Jiu-Jitsu academy where we take care of each other at all times!
